Choosing the right Audio Guestbook

What is an Audio Guestbook

To look at it looks like an old style phone from the 1970’s but these phones are for recording messages.
The way they work is you pick up the handset, then leave a message then hang up, it is that simple!

All Audio Guestbooks will save the messages that have been left, which will give you long lasting memories from your special event.

There are several Audio Guestbooks on the market and they are fast becoming one of the MUST HAVES for events such as weddings and birthdays.

There are some things that you should be aware of before choosing the Audio Guestbook as they will all pretty much look the same and work the same at your event, but it’s what you cannot see that you need to consider which you can read about below.

A phone is a phone right?

Yes and No..
To look at yes they look the same, you may get different styles of phone and the concept is the same but it is what is inside the phone that makes a HUGE difference.
Almost all Audio Guestbooks simply record the message and save that audio onto a memory card, that audio then needs to be edited (if you are using a good supplier) to remove background noise and adjust levels, this needs to be done on software so you will find that you will get your messages at a later date, timings dependent on how quick your supplier is, we have seen 7 days, 21 days and just the words “we will send after your event”

phoneOgram Audio Guestbook differs from all of the others due to it’s handling of messages, more details below

phoneOgram does what all other Audio Guestbooks do but the BIG advantage of phoneOgram is the enhanced features it has built in, the features it has make it the best performing Audio Guestbook during your event available.

When you hire a service you want to be sure that what you are hiring will give you the best results, with phoneOgram that is exactly what you are getting on the day of your hire.
Other Audio Guestbooks you can still get similar results but will rely on how good your supplier is at editing out background noise, placement of the phone during the event and the other factor as mentioned above is speed of getting your messages.

Features phoneOgram HAS that others DON’T

  • Built in background noise reduction
  • Built in level normalisation
  • Produces fully processed audio and video visualisation files on the phone itself automatically in the background whilst idle.
  • Ability to change the phone greeting from the actual phone

Each of the above features explained a little more

Built in noise reduction…… This reduces and in a lot of cases removes any background noise from the message, so you are getting to hear every word your guests say. We wanted to see how good this feature was so took it to an event to try it out. The event was a birthday party, roughly 120 guests in a smallish room, the music was provided by a DJ. We set the phone up in the nosiest part of the room which was right underneath the DJ’s speakers! Please listen to the clip near the bottom of this page, that was taken at this event, listen how well you can hear the message and listen for the music that was playing loud above the phone.
phoneOgram does that in the background as each message is left, meaning your messages do not need to be taken away to be edited and sent to you at a later date.

Built in level normalisation…

This will adjust the levels of sound so all messages will be at the same level, so if someone shouts or whispers the volume will be the same on playback.

Produces fully processed audio and video visualisation files on the phone itself automatically in the background whilst idle…… Using the 2 features above it will produce your audio files (messages) but phoneOgram ALSO produces mp4 files (video files), it does this in the background. MP4 files are saved individually and it also saves as a compilation of all messages. Mp4’s are a visual rather than an actual video, the visual can be your own photo and they have a soundwave running across it. Only phoneOgram does the video files without the need to create at a later date.

Ability to change the phone greeting from the actual phone…
Before hire we pre-load the phone with your greeting, this can be done using an artificial voice we create for you or you can send us your own greeting which we will load on to it for you. In the event that you hadn’t got your message to us and wanted your own voice, you can speak into the phone and leave one, if you do this when we are there we can make that the greeting your guests hear when they pick up the phone, if we have delivered the phone before your arrival your guests would hear the original greeting but the compilation would have your new recorded greeting on it.

This recording was made with the phone underneath the DJ's speaker

Listen how you can hear the message and listen for the loud music
that was being played at the time of the message being left

Enjoy your Audio Guestbook

Audio Guestbooks really are something you should have at your event, you will get so many lovely messages which you will treasure.
Sadly we won't all be around forever so listening back to the voices in hopefully many years it will mean even more to you.
Whoever and whichever Audio Guestbook you choose to use please do ENJOY it
